MY VIGAN, ILOCOS SUR ESCAPADE

MY VIGAN ILOCOS SUR ESCAPADE

Calle Crisologo, Vigan Ilocos Sur

(Unesco (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization) deemend Vigan a World Heritage Site because of it's intact and well-preserved example of a European trading town in East and Southeast Asia. The architecture is truly reflective of its roots in both materials and desin, in its fusion of Asian building design and costruction with European colonial architecture and planning.)

It's APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) and President Aquino declared Special non-working holiday this week (Nov. 17-20). So my friend (right) and I (left) packed our bags and went straight away to Vigan, Ilocos Sur to spent our vacation with our own itinerary.

But before the holiday kicked-in, we anticipated that during that week, many of our Kababayans/Fellow men would plan their vacation at Ilocos. First, I reserved an Economy room at Mojica Residencia Hotel (Amenities: Free Wi-fi, CATV, Parking Area, Private CR, Toiletries, Free use of towel). The room that I reserved have Electric fan only. However, if you wish an air conditioned room, they have available one also depending on your need. Economy Room Rate for 2 pax P800.00/Air conditioned room for 2 pax P1,250.00.  The room for 2 pax is small but cozy (good for sleeping only) and the comfort room is small also but you can manage to move, it is clean also.

Second, Transportation... Because we don't want hassle and long waiting during that day. I booked our transportation reservation (1st Class Bus) at Partas Bus Line which offer 3rd party subsidiary (www.biyaheroes.com) and paid  the amount due (P2,962 roundtrip for 2) for our reservation at BPI bank. As soon I paid it, within 5 minutes our round trip reservation was already confirmed. Less hassle and less stress trip to vigan! :)

On November 17 at 9:30PM our journey started, it took 6-7 hours from Cubao-Vigan, Ilocos Sur which quiet impressive because usually it took 8-10 hours before it arrived in Vigan. 4:00AM we arrived in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, we waited for about 30-40 minutes at Partas Bus station before we decided to went at Calle Crisologo.

November 18, 4:40AM, a majestic Calle Crisology welcomed us! Even though, there were people who were walking and taking pictures at the historical site. You will surely fall in love at the breathtaking historical pre-colonial, Spanish styled houses along the street of Calle Crisologo. Visit it at dawn and you will surely admire the alluring charisma of famous, Calle Crisologo of Vigan City.

At 7:00AM, we decided to went at Mojica Residencia to confirm our room reservation, since the room was occupied that time. We asked the hotel if we could have our vigan tour first but the attendant said that our tour will start at 8:30AM. So we decided to eat breakfast first before heading to our Vigan tour. The kindhearted hotel owner let us leave our bags so we could have a comfortable breakfast outside.

After a sumptuous breakfast at McDonald's Vigan (sarcastically laughing) we went ahead with our city tour. Kuya JR (for city tour inquiry: 0917-348-5204) our tricycle driver/tour guide  is very accommodating and hospitable.

And because we want to see Mindoro beach black and fine sand, we asked kuya  if he could include
it in our city tour. Guess what? kuya JR our tour guide included the said beach to our itinerary without asking any additional fee. Mindoro beach is located at Brgy. Mindoro.

The black sand of Mindoro beach is like the fine sand of Boracay, Aklan. However, the difference between the two is the color of the sand. But the beauty and the clean waters of Mindoro beach amazed us.

Bantay Bell Tower, the old historic belfry of the church known as the Bantay Tower, which served as a watchtower for pirates back in the Spanish colonial era, gave the town its name Bantay (to guard).

During our visit at bantay bell tower, there were a lot of people at the 3rd floor. But as you observe the four corners of Bantay Bell, you would seen the whole Vigan. And as you notice the name Bantay is appropriate because you would see how simple and peaceful life they have.

Crisologo Museum is an old century museum which was established after the death of Congressman Floro S. Crisologo who was shot at St. Paul Metropolitan Cathedral.

The Mansion of the Crisologo's were so vast and you would acknowledged that this family were one of the patriarchs at that time because of it's novelty.

Visit the Crisologo Museum to discover more!

Vigan City tour was over. It was a fun filled experienced! The people were so kind, accommodating and hospitable. But, our Ilocos tour isn't over because Norte is about to come! :) until my next blog! see you! :)
