Founded in 1995, the International Pink Festival (IPF) is the largest,
most well-attended LGBT film festival in
the Philippines. The 8-day festival is renowned for its wide-ranging film
selections from major independent and international filmmakers with more than 35
films from 15 countries.
The Quezon
City International Pink Film Festival envisions at creating experiences that bring
people together to discover extraordinary films from around the world that promotes
and advocates positive and long lasting effects on LGBT and the community. This
year, QCIPFF is organized by the Quezon City Government through the Quezon City
Pride Council bringing premium Film Programming from award winning LGBT movies here
and abroad. Set to host the largest International Pink Film Festival, which
will start on December 9 until December
16 at the Trinoma Mall Cinema 4. The festival features films that highlight the
lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community.
Opening the
festival will be the world premiere of "#pinQCity", a new flick by documentary
filmmaker Nick Deocampo. It tackles the struggles of an LGBT community living
in one of the biggest cities in the country. The festival also features local
queer film classics and new releases such as Gil Portes’ "Markova,"Auraeus
Solito’s "Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros," Joel Lamangan’s "Lihis,"
Jose Altarejos’ "Unfriend," Sigrid Andrea Bernardo’s "Ang Huling
Cha-cha ni Anita," and Alvin Yapan’s "Gaydar."
Award-winning
international films will also be screened during festival which includes Cannes
Film Festival grand prize winner "La Vie d’Adele" (Blue is the
Warmest Color), the German film "Freier Fall," and the American
documentary "Before We Know It."
Other
foreign films to be shown are from Sweden, Australia, Japan, Indonesia,
Malaysia, Cambodia, and Vietnam.
